Summer Recreation 2011

Welcome to Keizer Parks Foundation

We're glad you visited us, and we hope you enjoy the photos and information about Keizer's wonderful parks, volunteers, and community events.

Keizer Parks Foundation is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing Keizer's parks and recreation programs.

Whittam Garden getting a remodel - Garden Plots Available

Lots of veggies are being grown in the Whittam Garden this summer. New wooden raised beds are filled with private gardens as well as some being raised for donation to the Keizer Food Bank.

    Free City Rec Summer Recreation program was a great success!

Thanks to some generous donors and grants from the Law Enforcement for Youth and Keizer Rotary Foundation,  the City of Keizer again offered a free recreation program three days per week for elementary age kids.

Visits by the Turtle Ridge Wildlife Center's raptors, the Keizer Fire Dept's Firefighter Challenge, and the Volcanoes' Danny Brock livened up the summer. Community members helped kids make mini-gardens and balsa airplanes, play QuickStart tennis, and make art projects.

Thanks to all who helped make this a great summer for kids.

Drinking fountain, new grass welcome patrons back to the dog park!

Dogs and owners are flocking to the newly reopened dog park. With City water extended into Keizer Rapids Park, Kim Steen's (D&J Grooming) generous donation of a drinking fountain is FINALLY operational.

Hard work by Mike Whitaker, Randy Miller, and Clint Holland has paid off: The new turf is a brilliant spring green and the decomposed granite pathways promise a less-muddy spring experience!

Although City SDC funds have paid for part of the materials, there's still work to do, and donations are needed to complete the irrigation hook-up.

Want to help? There are many ways to send your donations to the project:

  • An easy PayPal button on this website;
  • Donation envelopes on the kiosks at the dog park;
  • Donation "check-offs" in the utility bills; or
  • Send checks directly to the City or to the Parks Foundation with a note that the funds are to be used for the dog park project.

Or, contact us to volunteer to help with some fundraising projects this summer.
